How to switch to two-password mode

New accounts are set to one-password mode by default. This password is used both for login (to verify the identity of the user and access the account) and for the mailbox (to decrypt data). It is still possible, however, to switch to two-password mode from the Settings -> Account page.

    Unrequested password reset messages

If you receive an unrequested password reset message, this indicates that someone has correctly filled in the combination of your Proton Mail username and recovery email address, possibly by accident. This password reset email does not mean that your account has been compromised.
